Mothers' Coffee:

Making Spirits Bright

November 23, 2019

LuciAnna's Pastries Alton, IL

This event was our official kick-off as our own non-for-profit. For it, we focused on the upcoming holidays and how to celebrate with intentionality and joy, rather than stress and busyness. Over twenty women gathered for delicious pastries, coffee and tea and were guided through a discussion of several reading selections meant to spark ideas and inspire reflection. Every woman who attended received a beautiful angel ornament, handmade in Haiti and purchased from the ESPWA Collective, a charitable pop-up boutique run by Natalie Runyon who was in attendance. We also raffled off two Christmas and Advent-themed books.

One attendee, Sarah Eyres of Brighton, said of the event, “This was such an inspirational and lovely event. It really set the tone for the sacredness of Christmas—engaging my thoughts on how I want to usher in the season with traditions, setting the tone spiritually, and creating those precious moments with my family. I am so honored I am able to be part of such an enriching and inspiring project as Faithful Family. I have so much to learn from these women.”

Wine and Wisdom for Mothers

 November 2018

In November 2018, we held our first Motherhood Conference, called "Wine and Wisdom for Mothers" at the Post Commons in Alton. The event was hosted by St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton and we had 80 women from the Alton/St. Louis region attend. Dinner was catered by the Post and delicious wines provided by Solera Wine Bar in Alton.

Our keynote speaker was author and cultural commentator, Suzanne Venker. We also had breakout sessions that covered topics such as "Mothering Adult Children," "Prayer in a Mother's Life," and "Family Mission." We ended the night with a panel discussion with the theme "Mothering in the 21st century."
